I’m late to jump on the Zac Efron-in-my-pants bandwagon.

When he was getting all popular on girls’ bedroom walls, I was busy going to graduate school then having babies. That doesn’t leave much time for swooning over teenage boys and their way-popular musical TV shows.

Plus, there was no such thing as social media back then, so stalking and lusting after the under-18-year-old sect was harder to do in secret like it is now.

Now that Mr Efron has matured into a very delicious 20-something-year-old, I’ve started to take notice.

And it’s not just his ripped abs, Happy Trail, tousled hair, and pleasing personality that I’ve noticed. It’s the way he’s accepted his celebrity as a positive role model for kids.

Modeling good self-pleasure techniques, Zac Efron holds his phone with one hand and puts his other hand in his pants.

Abstinence =  no babies, y’all!

Zac Efron shows kids that safe sex isn’t just for non-celebrities when a condom falls out of his pants pockets while walking the red carpet premiere of The Lorax.

Just like loving a man who cleans my toilet, I love a 20-something who packs a rubber for the premiere of his kiddie movie just in case.

Kids today need positive sexual role models, and we can no longer count on Snooki’s vagina to do all the teaching.

I have’t been able to listen to this song all the way through much less watch the whole video.

I have it on good authority (see: Patrick says) that during The Hunger Games movie, this Taylor Swift/Civil Wars song will be played at just the part that made me *tear* when I read the book.

I haven’t been this excited to cry my way through a teen book-made-into-a-high-budget-theatrical-event since Twilight!!!1!!

Clearly, there is a reason we keep seeing much of the same kinds of movies being recognized at the Academy Awards.

The voting population of the Academy is 94% white, 77% male, and 62 is the average age.

In 84 years, only 4 women have been nominated for a best directing Oscar.

1 has won.

In 2011, only 5% of the top grossing films in Hollywood were directed by women. The number has decreased since 2008.

By role, women accounted for 5 percent of directors, 14 percent of writers, 18 percent of executive producers, 25 percent of producers, 20 percent of editors, and 4 percent of cinematographers last year. – Women’s Media Center

Only 2 out of the 9 films nominated for Best Picture pass the Bechdel Test.

What is the Bechdel Test? A movie has to have all three of these happen in just ONE scene in the entire movie (not a high bar to reach):

1. It has to have at least two women in it,
2. Who talk to each other,
3. About something other than a man.

I recently read from a magazine interview with Emma Watson where she said she was asked by reporters if her short hair cut was her way of coming out of the closet.

“I had journalists asking me if this meant I was coming out, if I was a lesbian now.” She rolls her eyes. “That haircut did make me realise how subjective everyone’s opinion is. Some people were crazy for it and some people just thought I’d lost my shit. All I can do is follow my instincts, because I’ll never please everyone.” – Independent

You know, because short hair means a woman is gay?

I’m sad for society.

In my sadness for society, I created a few new gay hairstyles for me. And I have to say, I look pretty good as a lesbian.

If I were to cut my hair really short, straighten it, and dye it brown with some high- and low-lights, you’d get a questionably gay me with Emma Watson’s hairdo.

Here’s me as the very gay Ellen Degeneres.

And me with the (obviously) closeted Michelle Williams short hair cut.

And because I couldn’t stop at just white-girl closeted lesbian hair, I tried on Viola Davis’ hair.

Obviously, closeted gay women can have longer hair, because Oprah hides behind her luscious locks.

I’m totally gay for Rob Pattinson, so I had to try on his hair.

Now I’m considering jumping on the gay bandwagon because short hair is so much easier to maintain than the 2-feet-long straight-girl mop on my head.

I’m going to start by saying I’m not a prude when it comes to other people’s bodies. For my own body, I cover up and shut up. No one wants to see what’s going on under my unstylish clothes.

As a mother to two young girls, I may now be more conscious about how much skin they see on adult bodies than I used to be. But I think I’ve always been a bit less than liberal with what I think should be shown in public.

I think boobs are boobs, butts are butts, and privates are, well, meant to be private.

My own belief that women have choices with how we treat and present our own bodies is kind of a contradiction to how I feel about the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue featuring 19-year-old Kate Upton.

I don’t think it’s an appropriate cover to be on display in every bookstore, magazine rack, and as a massive billboard in Times Square.

Shocking to read from me, I know.

Girlfriend has a hot body, there’s no doubt. Great boobs, great stomach, great everything.

But I struggle with being OK seeing a bikini bottom so small that it looks to be one millimeter away from seeing Ms. Upton’s Front Butt.

While I don’t feel comfortable with this cover being everywhere for everyone to see, I’m very much OK with David Beckham’s H&M manties ad.

Though the combined fabric coverage of Mr. Beckham’s manties is only slightly more than Ms. Upton’s swimsuit, he is completely covered in the area of his “privates.”  There’s no peek of a Happy Trail, no definition of his bulge, no question that if he bent over, we’d be treated to a show of what’s currently covered.

I’m also very much OK with an ad campaign that shows women in their underwear.

I believe in the celebration of our bodies, no matter their size, shape, and purpose.

I don’t want to have to explain to my girls that it’s not OK to wear such an itsy bitsy, teeny weenie bikini in public, no matter their size, shape, and purpose.

If there’s a chance that your Front Butt may be exposed with a sneaked-out fart, the bikini bottom is too small.

My opinions may be contradictory, but I see a difference in the images and the messages they send.

Or maybe I wrote this whole essay as an excuse to look at David Beckham in his underwear. Maybe.

There was a time in my life when I’d be mistaken for Nicole Kidman.

This was clearly when it was the mid-90s, I was near-anorexic, and dating Tom Cruise. Nicole hadn’t yet started on her Botox addiction and no one knew she was Australian.

It’s kind of obvious once you see it. The bone structure, the mushroom-shaped hair, the translucent skin; we were like twinsies.

Cut to 20 years later, a few kids, more than a few pounds, some black-framed glasses, and a super-weird Who Do I Look Like internet toy that I learned about from Ali Martell on Yummy Mummy Club, and you get my new doppelgänger.

Bristol Palin, single mom daughter to (probable) GOP Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has written a book in which she describes the night when she became pregnant with her son, Tripp. According to Bristol, a teenager at the time, had been drinking with her friends, and her boyfriend at the time, Levi Johnston “stole” her virginity.

As a mom, a woman, and a former teenager with boyfriends, I know that anything that happened to me when I was drinking was my own uninhibited choice. I don’t and didn’t have the right to blame someone for taking anything from me, including my virginity. Bristol clarified in an interview Monday with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that she isn’t saying that Levi “raped” her, but she is accusing him of “stealing” her virginity.

To me, that’s saying that she had no choice in allowing him to have sex with her, just like you don’t give a burglar the right to enter your home.

Is this Bristol (and most likely her publicist and book publisher) using semantics to dance around the fact that she blames Levi for her bad choice in having unprotected sex that lead to a pregnancy?

This is what it looks like to me: Bristol is blaming her boyfriend for getting her pregnant while she was drunk.

She herself is saying he didn’t rape her. She’s not accusing Levi of rape. But is she taking any responsibility for the choices she made while she was under the influence? No.

I’ve never been raped. I’ve never been molested. I’ve never been taken advantage of to the point that I blame anyone other than myself.

I’ve been drunk. When I was younger, I would drink to the point of releasing my inhibitions. I do know that some of the boys and men I was around would try to take advantage of my inebriated state. I would never, ever accuse any of these men of “stealing” anything sexually from me, including my virginity, because of my drunken state..

I wonder if Bristol Palin is now changing her employment focus from an abstinence spokesperson to a spokesperson for an underage drinking awareness organization.
