There was a time in my life when I’d be mistaken for Nicole Kidman.

This was clearly when it was the mid-90s, I was near-anorexic, and dating Tom Cruise. Nicole hadn’t yet started on her Botox addiction and no one knew she was Australian.

It’s kind of obvious once you see it. The bone structure, the mushroom-shaped hair, the translucent skin; we were like twinsies.

Cut to 20 years later, a few kids, more than a few pounds, some black-framed glasses, and a super-weird Who Do I Look Like internet toy that I learned about from Ali Martell on Yummy Mummy Club, and you get my new doppelgänger.

Bristol Palin, single mom daughter to (probable) GOP Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, has written a book in which she describes the night when she became pregnant with her son, Tripp. According to Bristol, a teenager at the time, had been drinking with her friends, and her boyfriend at the time, Levi Johnston “stole” her virginity.

As a mom, a woman, and a former teenager with boyfriends, I know that anything that happened to me when I was drinking was my own uninhibited choice. I don’t and didn’t have the right to blame someone for taking anything from me, including my virginity. Bristol clarified in an interview Monday with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America that she isn’t saying that Levi “raped” her, but she is accusing him of “stealing” her virginity.

To me, that’s saying that she had no choice in allowing him to have sex with her, just like you don’t give a burglar the right to enter your home.

Is this Bristol (and most likely her publicist and book publisher) using semantics to dance around the fact that she blames Levi for her bad choice in having unprotected sex that lead to a pregnancy?

This is what it looks like to me: Bristol is blaming her boyfriend for getting her pregnant while she was drunk.

She herself is saying he didn’t rape her. She’s not accusing Levi of rape. But is she taking any responsibility for the choices she made while she was under the influence? No.

I’ve never been raped. I’ve never been molested. I’ve never been taken advantage of to the point that I blame anyone other than myself.

I’ve been drunk. When I was younger, I would drink to the point of releasing my inhibitions. I do know that some of the boys and men I was around would try to take advantage of my inebriated state. I would never, ever accuse any of these men of “stealing” anything sexually from me, including my virginity, because of my drunken state..

I wonder if Bristol Palin is now changing her employment focus from an abstinence spokesperson to a spokesperson for an underage drinking awareness organization.

I’m turning into a lush. This should come at no surprise to anyone who knows me or my family, considering I’ve been drinking beer since I was old enough to fetch and open the bottles for my dad. It’s too bad that I don’t like beer now, because beer is cheap and comparatively low in calories to the drinks I like.

Margaritas? My drink of choice.

Sangria? My close second drink of choice.

Anything pomegranatey with vodka? My WOO HOO, GIRL’S NIGHT drink of choice.

Free alcohol? Yes, please, and keep them coming.

Unfortunately, all of those drinky poos that I love are relatively high in calories.

[Note: "Relatively high" means "so high that I don't want to know."]

I’m a child of 80s television which in a small way means I’m easily swayed by commercialism. If it’s on TV and someone I think I like says it’s good, I’ll try it.

You can guess what comes next.

My local liquor store is a carrier of the ready-to-drink Skinny Girl Margarita. You know, if they had any. Apparently (and of course I knew this from watching Bethenny Ever After, but I figured my one little liquor store would have the last bottle) they are very popular and sell out as soon as they’re stocked and don’t restock for months at a time.

This leaves me stuck with no Skinny Girl Margaritas.

I’m blaming Bethenny Frankel for the extra 20 pounds I’ll be putting on my ass because I have to drink regular super-calorie ready-to-drink margaritas.

If you know me at all, you know I watch a lot of TV, whereby “a lot” means, “the TV is always on, except when I am sleeping in my bed.” Lately, I’ve seen Paul Reiser on many talk shows promoting his new self-titled 1/2-hour comedy show that’s not-so-loosely based on his real life. I enjoyed Mad About You, not particularly him, but that’s not my point. Well, maybe it’s my point that I’m not really a Paul Reiser fan, so I may feel a little judgmental when I watch the show clip he’s promoting.

The gist of the clip is that after Mad About You ended 11 years ago, Paul Reiser decided to stay home from working as an actor and raise his children while his wife went to school and started her career. He tells his “friend” in the show that he was filling out a school form for his son, and in the box marked “Father’s Occupation,” he didn’t know what to put down. During TV interviews, he tells a story of when his son asked him, “Daddy, what do you DO?” and to his son, he doesn’t have an answer.

It’s not unusual these days that men stay home and the mother works. It’s also not unusual that women stay home with the children while the father works outside the home.

But I’m wondering, why is it that no one is questioning Paul Reiser’s lack of equality in how stay-at-home mothers have felt for MANY years when they are asked “What do you DO?” This was a question men weren’t typically asked 20+ years ago, but in today’s society, stay-at-home dads should have just as much honor in saying, “What I DO is raise my children.”

Maybe I’m overly sensitive. Maybe I should watch the show to see which direction Paul Reiser is taking his stay-at-home dad status. Or maybe I’m right-on in my judgements.

Normally, I like to keep good vibes flowing through me and positivity and happyfuntimesmileyface, but I have irrational celebrity dislikes. I can’t help it. I’ve tried to come around and see the good in them, but it’s just not possible for me.

When these people come up on my TV, I scramble to find the remote to switch the channel to anything but what is on to get these people out of my face. No matter where I am, what I’m doing, or which babe was suckling at my teat, the channel must be changed.

Much like my irrational distaste for chicken on pizza ****PUKE**** I have irrational distaste for these celebrities. I’m not even sure why I’m writing this post because now I’ll have to search for photos of these people to forever live on my blog. These are the things I do for you people.

Kathie Lee Gifford – Now that I think about it, my dislike is not irrational. She’s annoying, over-plasticized, and seems to me to be a raging beeotch.

If you have read my blog for any amount of time or know me at all, you know I’m a gay lover.

Or lover of gays.

Or a mostly straight woman who loves the gays and just happens to be happily married to a man.

I believe Gay is OK.

I’ve also been a fan of Rosie O’Donnell for the last umpteen years before, during, and after her daytime show, and now I love her Sirius radio show. I listen to it nearly every day. I’m kind of two shades away from being a stalker.

I make no apologies for who or what I like, even if the rest of the world teases or berates my choices. I enjoy Twilight, Jersey Shore, Ranch dressing on Mexican potatoes, Mama Oprah, sugar on my margarita rim, Crocs, and Rosie O’Donnell, no matter what people may think of me for liking what I like.

Rosie talked on her show Friday about responding to a negative, hateful Twitter mention directed at her. Normally, I tend to believe in ignoring the trolls, the hatred, and the darkness in people. It kind of makes it easier on my wonky heart not to add to my stress levels.

BUT HOT DIGGITY DAMN, I love Rosie’s response to Margie Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church member and God Hates F***s founder:

That kid you see on the TV with the hair and the big glasses and the white t-shirts? He’s a kid. He’s 16-years-old, he sings music, he performs on stage, he’s good at what he does.

He’s 16.

He’s a kid.

I have a 6-year-old and a 5-year-old who like Justin Bieber. They also like Spongebob, iCarly, Taylor Swift, and playing with dolls.

I LOVE that they like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Guster, and (some) P!nk. I wouldn’t mind if they liked the Jonas Brothers, too. They spend countless hours (really, A LOT of karaoke going on in this house) singing along to the songs on their iPods. They arrange performances, singing along to the songs of Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.

They’re kids.

Justin Bieber is 16. He is a kid. When I see people online referring to him as something other than a kid; as someone who is an adult and can be talked about as an adult, I cringe. I cringe for him, for his mother, for the people making the repulsive comments.

There are throngs of people on Twitter, across the blog world, and on message boards making borderline pedophiliac comments about his body, his image, his self that are disgusting when aimed at a child.

He’s 16. He is a child.

He may be in the spotlight as a popstar, he may be beloved by little and older girls, he may be on stage dancing as a 16-year-old dances, singing like a 16-year-old sings, and sounding like a 16-year-old sounds, but that doesn’t give people permission to make him into an adult who is open to criticism that is saved for adults.

Several months ago, I wrote a post about my 6yo discovering Justin Bieber and how I had failed myself as being a Hippie Mother. The focus of the post was not to insult the boy as a boy, but to point out that my girls love pop music as much as we as their parents are not fans. But kids like what they like. We don’t and can’t force them into liking things we like just because we like them. In our house, you like what you like, and you don’t have to defend it or be ashamed by it.

I believe it is OK for famous adults to be criticized and targeted as the subject of mockery. I know that’s somewhat controversial to say, but it’s human nature to make untouchable adults out to be the mark of criticism.

But children? No. It is unacceptable to make fun of a child. To target a child as the subject of mockery, even if they are famous for any reason. Just because a child has a talent that makes puts them in the public eye, that does not give permission to make that child into an adult to be the focus of lampooning.

Enough of my soapbox. My kid is dancing to Baby.
