My family has a quirk. Or as some people may call it, a sickness.

We were inbred with a part of our brain that does not allow for grammatical errors to go unnoticed.

My sister and I grew up living with a corrective father who would publicly chide us for our improper usage of the words “brought vs. taken,” “farther vs. further,” and overusing the word, “like.” He only corrected us because he loved us and he didn’t want us to embarrass him with our uneducated speaking language. I don’t ever remember him correcting my written language. I was in high school before every household owned a desktop computer, so he would bring home his 10 pound laptop from work and type my papers for me. I have a feeling he would correct my grammatical errors out of fatherly love.

Yes, I said “panty.” I have no problem with the word, just like I have no problem with the word “moist.” I dont’ really want to hear the two words together, but separately, no issues here.

No part of my panty drawer is moist. That would be awful. I don’t even know why I even thought of that.

I digress.

Totally unrelated to moist panties, we’re bringing back the Meme. OH YES WE ARE. All this talk lately about “old school blogging” and going back to basics has made me and a few of my blog friendlies realize that we need to step back into the fun stuff: the Memes. Who knows how long it will last, or if it will even get past today, but Tena and I are starting off by showing you what’s in our undies drawer. Because why? Because we’re old school bloggers.

What exactly IS a Meme? I’ll let Wikipedia explain:

A meme ( /ˈmiːm/) is “an idea, behaviour or style that spreads from person to person within a culture.” A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate and respond to selective pressures.

That was painful.

The dumbed-down definition as it applies to blogs: Publishing a post with a central idea that is common among any blogger who chooses to participate. See: Wordless Wednesday, 100 Words, Haiku Friday, NABLOPOMO, etc. Most of these Memes have been long forgotten, but there are some old schoolers who still participate.(...)

The older and wiser I get, the lower my inhibitions become. Or maybe that’s the vodka. Whatever the case, I’m pretty much willing to do a lot of stuff without being embarrassed as long as I get paid.

Except…

Wear a bikini.

Ever.

Even if/when/in my dreams when I’m skinny, I will never, ever wear a bikini.

Even if I was paid by Jenny Craig to go on the Oprah show and got to wear some weird binding pantyhose deal that put an bizarre line down the middle of my belly (I’m looking at you, Kirstie Alley).

Oh, Kirstie. The crazy looked good on you then.

Even if I was skinny in the real world, but in Hollywoodland I was considered fat.

Oh, Love. You're beautiful in my book, even if my sister finds you extra annoying.

Even if you just take a picture from behind.

Oh, sweetheart. No. Just, no.

Even if I weighed 76 pounds.

If you add 140 pounds, this me.

Even if it were for a joke at my expense.

That's pretty much me, just without the dark hair & belly scar

I am definitely too chicken shit to put on a bikini.

Every proper crafter has these creepy monstrosities in their house, hanging out in the corner, waiting for you, the unsuspecting visitor, to walk in to the room and get FREAKED THE FUCK OUT that a kid is in ‘time-out’ in a kidless household.
