It was while reading a Washington Post blog review of Jenny Lawson’s book, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, that a flash of brilliance was bestowed upon me.
I say “bestowed upon me” because flashes of brilliance don’t normally come from mine own mind; they are given to me by others with more brilliant minds.
Since I began this whole blogging/internetting/writing deal, I’ve been in search of some way to label what I do. Writer, Blogger, Online Professional, Creator, Creative, All-Around Superstar: all monikers I’ve used to give myself a title.
But now that I’ve received this flash of brilliance, my title is secured: Director of Blog Engagement.
What better title to have than one that projects importance, clearly identifies my purpose, and may sound a bit egotistical.
Thank you, Washington Post Director of Blog Engagement, Melissa Bell, for bestowing this flash of brilliance upon mine professional Director head.
I’ve updated all of my online profiles to reflect my highfalutin Director status:
From this point forward, I shall forevermore be referred to as Director of Blog Engagement.
Or at least until I receive a bigger flash of brilliance.

Congrats on your promotion. Did you get a raise? If so, can I get some donuts?
As luck my have it, I have donuts and just ate one! You’re welcomed to one.

Um, can I steal that? Wait, no, that’s not what I mean. I mean, I would like to utilize your flash of brilliance to improve my own online resume. Maybe we should start a coalition of directors of blog engagement?
