Already?
It’s what? November 11th??? Are you kidding?
It needs to be against the law to put up any Christmas decorations before Black Friday. (If you don’t know when Black Friday is, you don’t deserve to be called “woman.” Google it. Or if you’re too lazy, click HERE, and I’ll Google it for you. How do I love thee? I Google for you!)
I saw a friggin Christmas tree all aglow tonight. IT’S NOVEMBER 11TH. It’s still friggin 80 degrees in the sun during the day. Argh.
I get that some retail businesses (mine included!) have to start the holiday shopping promos to drum up biz for early shopping season. Unless you’re my mother-in-law, and you were done in September. Seriously, friggin September.
But for all of you normal freaky house decorators of all things Christmas - WAIT UNTIL AFTER THANKSGIVING!
For the love of Pete and all things sane.

I have a stalker. It’s friggin awesome. Check her out. I’m welcoming more stalkers. No need to sign up. Just be nice.

Mamas Like is having a Holiday Gift Guide EXTRAVAGANZA next week. (Retail doesn’t count for the after Turkey Day rule, remember.)

I used “friggin” 6 times in this blog (including this sentence). I’m a crazed, friggin woman (now 7 times).

I’m also “sliently stalking” u..hehee..
Wow, you really have arrived. TWO stalkers. How do I get one of those
I like to stalk you, too!
I almost went postal Saturday when I was driving through town and they were already painting all the windows with Christmas scenes THEN I drove by one of the churchs and they even had their Christmas lights on. It all went downhill from there.
Congrats on your stalker!
I agree 110%. My “hyper” neighbors have been starting this and I am convinced they are just trying to be the damn Jones’s that everyone will want to try to keep up with. It is sad how people go nuts about decorating earlier and earlier.
And I feel like such a pud now, I just commented on another blog and wrote “freakin” instead of “friggin”–that person is going to think I am a freaky stalker because I can’t spell….urgh! Anyway, I love your blog as well and you can consider me your stalker too (with the exception that I will never hunt you down and show up at your doorstep). Not now anyway!
How cool is that… a stalker?!?! I am jealous!!!
Seriously. My neighbors just put Christmas lights on their house over this past weekend, can you stand it? Ridiculous. They are the icicle lights too and of course they have been on each night since.
I know some stores refuse to decorate until the day after Thanksgiving but I guess since so many are starting their shopping now some have to get going with all the Holiday decor. Crazy….
I was in WalMart three days ago and they were playing Christmas music.
I think, unless the holidays are 72 hours apart, we should wait until one is over before starting the celebration of another.
I would prefer, like you, that Cmas lights and decor make their debut on BlackFriday!
We should start a petition! Maybe we could get on the TODAY SHOW or something! HAHA
I agree! I ranted on my blog about a neighbor that put their Christmas stuff up two days before Halloween. Seriously, putting decorations up after you eat your turkey gives one plenty of time to enjoy the Christmas decor. Our local light rock station is already playing wall-to-wall holiday music. They were playing Christmas music at the scrapbooking store today. IT’S TOO SOON!
Ok, I’m probably going to get a few stalkers of my own (and not the good kind). We put our lights up two days after Halloween.
Not because we want them on but for two reasons. One, it’s easier to put them up when its warm outside and two, we do a Christmas lights and music show and it takes all of a month to get it ready for Thanksgiving weekend.
It’s my dh’s hobby so I can’t say no…but I do draw the line at lighting the lights until after Thanksgiving.
I never put up Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving and it takes me a few days to finish! Its tradition, all day Friday, and on Sat. its the Alabama- Auburn game and Christmas decorations and then on Sun. I finish up!!! Christmas is my favorite season, but I remember when open houses were the day after Thanksgiving, not the day after Halloween! It drives me crazy to see Christmas commercials before Thanksgiving!!!!
