And WHY am I so friggin tired at the early hour of 11:30pm? Because my adorable *ahem* princesses didn’t get the memo that daylight savings time ended last night. They. Were. Up. At. 6am.
IT’S SUNDAY. (I forgot to go to church yet again. It’s like I religiously forget every Sunday.)
Not only were they up, but they wanted food.
Come on, kids. Learn to feed yourselves already. You’re 3 and 2. I would think that by now you’d have figured out the whole put-frozen-pancakes-in-microwave deal by now.
Since they haven’t figured out how to climb up to the microwave YET (give it a few weeks), I shuffled out to the kitchen, threw in the frozen foods, and shuffled back to bed.
But, noooo. That wasn’t enough. They wanted attention. Argh. What do I look like? Your personal care-taker? Go turn on the boob-tube and veg out. Geez.
In my it’s-friggin-early sleepy haze, I began to hear a tambourine beating… in rhythm - they can keep a beat at least. So I crack open my peepers to see two toddlers staring me down, one hitting a tambourine and one looking at me while sucking a pacifier. I SO wished I had a camera by my bed. But, alas, I am not an exhibitionist (ew), and I do not keep my Canon available bedside. It was the funniest sight that I could have wished to wake me up.
But it was still friggin early.
Wanna see what the *ahem* princesses looked like (well, kinda) this morning? Check out my other blog, Mamas Like.

My kids didn’t get that memo either. So much for getting an extra hour of sleep.
I feel your pain…as my very adorable 3 year old woke me up at 7am with a resounding “the sun is up momma, get up now.” And repeating till I rolled myself out of bed.
Apparently the baby didn’t get the memo, either. 4:45am!! I need an IV drip full of coffee!!
Oh man, I wish you did have a camera by your bed, because that image would be priceless! Too funny!
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one. Hope has been getting out of bed earlier and earlier and daylight savings time sure didn’t help that!!
My kids apparently didn’t get the memo either. They were up at 5am ready for the day. GAH!!!
Kids need an inner clock, and by that I do not mean alarm clock.
I hate when the time changes, it screws up my whole day for like… 2 months. When I finally get used to it, it changes again!!
yea, what’s up with that? here I am thrilled to have an extra hour of sleep and now the kids are all getting up earlier. At least mine are old enough to pop the waffles into the toaster and turn on the boob tube, until they start fighting over who’s going to watch what…then I may as well get up.
I can’t even tell you the number of blogs I have read about early risers on Sunday morning. On SAturyda night I actually turned the tv to nickelodeon, poured bowls of dry cereal and set out cups (for water from the fridge) so when mine woke up at the butt crack of dawn I could just tell them to go turn on the tv and eat their cereal. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go back to SLEEP sleep, but at least I got to lay there trying for awhile longer.
Great post….I laughed out loud….my THREE SONS were the same way (well, I guess you can’t really count the 4 month old baby…..) but the other two were up and I was tearing around trying to get everyone fed and dressed for church when my hubby shuffled out and said I could go back to bed for an hour because he forgot to change the clocks back before we went to bed…..sigh….
I have yet to figure out how to reset the kids. And we’ve been parenting for nearly 13 years.
Our youngest did sleep in, thus allowing us to also (until 7:00) but then napped from 6-11 p.m. I thought he was down for the night. He wasn’t.
We’re still working on the shift. The ear infection and fever aren’t helping matters!
Ha, ha - that was good. Thanks for the chuckle. I may be SHOT for saying this, but I have a kid who sleeps in just like a grown up. It is like a stepford child - you tell her to sleep in until 8:30 and she does! But for some reason, I am still always tired.
my boys SO did not get that memo! and stupid us, we stayed up late the night before so we could get extra visit time with my mom (she was visiting for the weekend), so we were reeeeally tired when the boys decided it as time for us to get up!
