I’ll give you a list, and you’ll LIKE IT.

in I love a list

It’s Monday. My 4-year-old slept in until 10am, which consequently, I slept in until 10am. More importantly, I’m writing this post in my PJs. Also, I’m going commando. You’re welcome for THAT visual.

  • • My children are watching a marathon of Star Wars movies FOR THE 3RD DAY IN A ROW.
  • • Related: I’ll be using my new Skull Candy headphones while drowning the sound out with my Pandora station, “Twilight.”
  • • Related: It’s icky to see Anakin and Amidala meet for the first time cause DUDES. He’s a kid. She’s an adult. Reminds me of Celine Dion and René Angélil but without the real-life white-haired creepy old man factor.
  • • I just left a comment on Becky’s blog letting the world know that butterflies are birthed from Jesus.
  • • I’m still not unpacked from our NY trip.
  • • That guy was not her husband.
  • Twitter hates me today, so I hate it back.
  • • I’ll be going to Asheville during Type A Mom. Notice, I did not say I’m going to the conference, because I’m not. I’ll be IN Asheville during the TIME of the conference to see my friendlies. (I hope. I still need to buy my plane tickets. Details…)
  • • Did you know that a 48-hour stay in the hospital costs $10,851.32? Did you know that I owe $936.92 of that portion? Did you know that the healthcare system in the US is sub-par? Did you know that according to the World Health Organization (in 2000) the US healthcare system ranked 37th in the world after countries like Costa Rica, Greece, France (#1), UK, Ireland and San Marino?
  • • Related: Where the hell is San Marino and why have I never heard of this place?
  • • Related: I thought I knew a lot about geography until I started meeting Canadians and realized there are like 6 provinces and 5 territories up there. Even those numbers are way off because I’m not going to google that. I’ll leave it to my Canadian readers to learn me on that one.
  • • This picture makes me happy in my pants:

I feel the same way about Anakin and Amidala; it’s creepy.

it’s interesting to note that several of those countries with higher ranked health care systems actually have socialized medicine. Go figure. :-)

Why does Twitter hate you today?!!

I didn’t go to BlogHer, but if I had, my bag wouldn’t be unpacked yet either, because that’s how I roll.

The problem, in my humble opinion, is that we have a “health care system.” You know, instead of just health care. People’s lives shouldn’t be run through a damn system. (Stepping down off soap box now.)

I was unpacked by the next morning after I got home from BlogHer because I roll with the OCD homeys. Don’t be like me; it’s really quite sick.

I love, love, love that picture!!!

My insurance was billed $36,000 for my surgery and 2 night hospital stay. I owe $798, which is $298 worth of my remaining deductible and $500 to get me to my out of pocket max for the year. I’m pretty excited that I will owe NOTHING on any doctor’s appt. that may come up between now and the end of the year.

I hope your kids watch Star Wars movies all day, every day, for forever. But… I might be slightly biased on the subject. I have the Darth Vader march song stuck in my head, running over and over, and it pleases me.

Plus, I’m here, which is cool in itself. I’m pretty awesome to know. LOL

That whole Anakin and Amidala things always creeped me out too. He grew up cute though.

My Christmas appendectomy was a stunner too. I don’t even want to think how bad it would be if we didn’t have insurance. I was in for about 24hours and our portion was over $2,200. I should have kept the squiggler and had it turned into a pendant for that kind of money.

I’ll be in Asheville too, so save some hugs for me.

That is an awesome pic of you and the Mister.

When I hear American tourists talking about having the best health care system in the world, I totally turn around and say “37th actually.” It packs a punch for the English who recognize my own American accent.

I always found that part of Star Wars creepy too. And our health care system sucks. And that is a very cute pic.

A) I LOVE that picture of you two! And, B) that hospital bill SUCKS! Especially when I remember you wanting to go home but they wouldn’t let you! If I win the lotto, I’ll pay it off for you. I’m a generous person when it comes to my imaginary money.

While I appreciate the back-handed suggestions, I’m not sure where I says “feedback appreciated” anywhere on my blog. I see you’ve been by once before, so I’m honored you came back. How about next time, you try not to insult my integrity by calling anything I do “self-important” unless I say it first.

And yes, it is a nice picture.

You must have a deductible or a 90/10 plan based on those numbers. And given that, based on most companies, it really isn’t all that bad of a plan. You can call the provider and set up payment arrangements so you don’t have tp ay it all at once. This is actually part of my real job that people pay me to do. If you want me to walk you through it, I would be more than happy to help. Just shoot me an email or a DM on Twitter with your phone number.

And a little known fact is that MOST providers will negotiate your portion down to very little or nothing since insurance has already paid the rest.

Peace out.

Sorry about your hospital stay. But that’s one of the things I love about our 10 provinces & 3 territories (just so you know) is the health care.

And as bellawriter stated… hockey. We love us some hockey.

Oh, and I love the pic. You two are very cute!
