Note to Self

Note: Do not toss sensitive child living constantly on the brink of a meltdown into pool for the first time wearing swimmy arm floats without holding on to her.

Note: Next time, hold child’s hand, then gently ease her into said pool preparing her for proper flotation on her own.

As I just learned by being lectured to very loudly and very sternly by our swim coach.. the throwing into the pool wasn’t your real offense… it’s the arm floaties… evidently they are a direct by-product of the devil himself. According to him the permanent scarring really comes from not having a vest instead. Which sux for us ’cause the little ones love the arm floaties once we stop throwing them in don’t they?

My hubby did something similar with Hannah when she was a toddler. He didn’t understand why she was scared of pools for the rest of the summer though. ;)

I can just see it. She’ll be lying on a couch, telling her therapist, “If only my mother hadn’t thrown me in the pool that one time….”
