I’m a pie girl.
It’s proven in my Cake vs. Pie bracket tournament.
So it goes without saying that I would jump at the chance to write about pie and get paid to do it. Thanks to Marie Callender’s and Pi Day, or as 3-14 has been renamed, Pie Day, I get to eat pie and tell you all about it.
Now that nerds like me are becoming the cool kids, we now have an excuse to celebrate nerdy holidays like Pi Day with PIE. Mark 3.14 on your calendars. It’s time to eat some pie.
For this eating assignment, I opted to go the dessert pie route rather than the savory pie one. I normally don’t buy dessert pies for regular old everyday life, but my go-to frozen meal is a Marie Callender’s Creamy Mushroom Chicken Pot Pie. No lie. I’m not even paid to say that; it’s totally true. And now that I see there is a Chicken Parmesan Pot Pie, I’ll be digging in the frozen foods section tomorrow to find that deliciousness.
My two favorite dessert pies are my mom’s homemade Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie. Since she refuses to make thousands of those pies for the general masses or for me outside of holiday times, my default dessert pie is Apple, Peach, Blueberry, or Cherry.
Obviously, fruit pie is health food*, so when I eat any dessert fruit pie, I’m basically losing weight.
(*This is what happens in my head, not what actually happens in real life.)
I picked up a mini peach pie today knowing I was going to have an evening of no husband and nothing but Teen Mom 2 and Real Housewives of Somewhere on my DVR.
Guys, it’s delicious. I popped that sucker in the microwave for 5-1/2 minutes, went to take a shower, and came out to the sweet, sweet wafting smells of fresh-baked peach pie. Aside from the mess I made scooping it out of the container (but really, who can get a piece of pie out of the pan without a mess anyway), that was some damn good pie.
