A Beautiful LieSeeing as I’m not a writer (I just write about things other people write), I have a hard time understanding how real writers do all of their writing. And when those writers can write different stories in different ways that can make me feel different things, I’m in even more awe.

That funny-ass chick writer, Tara Sivec, the one who wrote the Chocolate Lovers books that had me nearly peeing my granny panties, wrote a new book A Beautiful Lie. It’s NOTHING like the Chocolate Lovers books. Or really, nearly nothing. The sexy times are really well-written scenes just like in her other series, but there are no foul-mouthed kids, dirty word t-shirts, or references to bodily functions in A Beautiful Lie. There’s a lot of mystery, action (in and out of the bedroom and under a waterfall), and more mystery wrapped into the start of the new Playing With Fire series under Tara’s pen name, T.E. Sivec.

A Beautiful Lie

I rated the book 4/5 stars, I think mostly because it was long. Really long. I wish Tara had split the book up into two editions, but I’m no writer or editor or publisher, so what do I know?

Since my self-appointed mission in life is to review and spread the Word of Smut, here’s my review of A Beautiful Lie:

Holy moses, this is a trip and a half. Mystery shrouded in secrets hidden in international crime with a healthy smattering of sexual tension and sexy time. Though it could have probably been broken down into two books, this is an easy read if you can keep up with the military missions and intermittent flashbacks. A Beautiful Lie doesn’t have the humor featured in Tara Sivec‘s hilarious Chocolate Lovers series, and you’d never know it was even the same author if she wasn’t so good at writing a love scene.

Oh yeah, and there’s this snippet to pique your interest:

“If you were mine, I would never be able to walk away from you. If you were mine, I’d worship every inch of your body with my hands, lips, and tongue. If you were mine, I wouldn’t be able to stand in the same room as you without running my hands over your skin and tasting your lips. If you were mine…”

Go. Buy. Read.
