I’ve never been what you would call a “fashion plate,” but more of a “fashion emergency.”

Once I find a shirt or skirt or bottoms I like, I buy them in every color available. My favorite? $4 Old Navy Weekly Specials that wear out before the end of the season. bee tee dub… I’m wearing one right now that’s already pilled and scratching my arms.

Dead sexy.

For nearly every outfit I wear, I can bet you can purchase for less than $30 TOTAL.

Dead classy.

Sure, you can dress me up and take me somewhere pretty every once in a while, but that takes major planning and shoe pile digging and earring dusting.

Dead messy.

The following was picked out of the limited pictures I have of myself.
Same. Same. Same: khaki bottoms, solid shirt.

There are special times when I think I look better than my normal pink hair-dye-stained Obama ’08 t-shirt, shlubby 2-year-old chino shorts missing one of the buttons, and BRAND! NEW! pink! Crocs. Times with I actually fix my hair, put on actual eye makeup, and find actual nice jewelry to slap on.

My wannabe-turned-actual fashion plate sister is consistently nagging on me to “put on more makeup” and “here, wear this necklace” and “OH MY GOH HOW DO YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE LOOKING SO HORRID*?”

I have, what you might describe as, a precocious, opinionated, moody, 4-going-on-13-year-old little girl.

Apparently, she’s caught on to my failures as a fashion victim survivor.

I was dressed up to go to a friend’s birthday dinner in the bathroom putting lipstick on a pig dressing my eyes, when she came in to show me just how cute she looked in her frilly un-Easter, Easter dress.

That’s when it happened: the rest of my life.

“Mama. You need to wear a dress like mine. You look boring.“

Yes, kid. Yes. I do look boring.

And you, my dear child, have made your auntie very proud.

I’m back from my 3-day cruise with my lady-family + the now-adopted-daughter, Your Aunt Becky.

I have no idea how, after spending 3 days doing nothing more than eating, drinking, spa-ing, sunning, and sleeping, I can be so flipping tired. But I am. And you should totally be sorry for me. Or not. AND GET ME A MARGARITA.

Don’t stick around here looking at some of my pictures, including one of a sea turtle.
SEA. TURTLE. In all my years living in Florida (see: 32), I’ve never once seen a Sea Turtle, but as we left for the open Atlantic Ocean from Port Canaveral, we counted nearly 20 swimming just feet from our boat. Insane.

Forgive me, for I am a bit emo today.

My sister is taking my nephew 104 miles (I google-mapped that shit) away from me. That’s 90 miles farther away from me than he’s been his whole life.

16 months of having Nolan 30 minutes from me.

Now, I’ll actually have to plan to go see him.

No, “Dinner at Toojay’s tonight,” or “Meet us at the park,” or “Funny seeing you here at Target/Best Buy/Buffalo Wild Wings/the mall.” (It’s freaky how many time, out of the 20,000 people that live in the radius between us, that we just happen to be at the same place at the same time so many times.)

We’ll actually have to plan to take a day trip to see the Best Toddler Baby Jeebus and Oprah Ever Created.

Yes, he’s a better toddler than my own kids.

No, I didn’t say cuter, because as you know, I have the cutest kids on the planet.

But I think Claire will miss him most.

Way back, a long long time ago when I was 31 and it was 2008, I posted a series of photos from my “awkward” years.

To say the least, it was chock full of dorktasticness, but hey, it was the late 80s, early 90s. That’s pretty much my only excuse for my wardrobe and hair choices.

I can also say that I wasn’t the only one to have LASERS in the background of my school pictures.

How lucky can one girl be? I feel famous to be just like Laser Cat ManBoy.

For SO MUCH MORE of my Awesomeness, I’m in two other places today. I know, I’m magical.

I have been beyond blessed (and I don’t ever use that word because I save that for when I meet Mama Oprah) to have welcomed FOUR babies into my life in the last week.

Auntie Lala has four actual real live babies now in my life.

And they’re all friggin hairy (except for the first one, but it wouldn’t be a catchy title to say 3 hairy and 1 non-hairy baby). They’ll all make your ovaries quiver whether you have them or not, especially the last picture.

Really. It’s worth going all the way through to the end of the post. No, this is not a trick to get you to see some horrid fat girl in a swimsuit.

It’s pretty much the second best feeling ever to become an aunt. I can imagine only becoming a grandmother could succeed it, but for now, and the next 20+ years, I won’t know that feeling. (I better not. *shifts strict mom eyes to little girls*)

Today, Valentine’s Day, I became an aunt to my first niece. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law lives 9 hours away, so visiting Ellie will have to wait until we take a road trip next month up to visit.

But, right here in my city, my childhood best friend had her baby yesterday. Austin was born at 9 lbs, 7 ounces with NO MEDS and NO ASSISTANCE other than major pushing & grunting & I’m sure major cursing. I’ll be snugging up on him this week which reminds me that I haven’t held a newborn baby since my nephew, Nolan, was born in Oct 08. That is FAR too long for my ovaries to NOT be next to an infant.

OK, so what if they both look like little aliens straight out of Mars Attacks!. Just you wait until they’re a week old and are almost the cutest kids on the internet. THEN you’ll be oooing and awwwing.
