Other than the memory I have of my first child exiting my body through my love canal after 39 weeks of gestation those 7+ years ago, which could have totally been put there by Leo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt during one of our sex dreams, I know this kid is mine.

Some say she looks just like the man everyone is told is her father, so we’ll go with that.

I know she’s mine because she worked her own “Cake vs. Pie vs. Brownie” questionnaire on me yesterday. After I convinced her that she would like the apple pie I was making her try, she confessed she loved it. Any kid of mine is destined to have a sweet tooth.

Unless her name is Claire and then she’ll just look exactly like me but have completely opposite tastes in everything, including food.

But if her name is Anna, she’ll drool at the mention of chocolate and eat every last bite of dessert put in front of her.

My child.

Anna: “Mama, which would you choose: a brownie or apple pie?”

Me, simultaneously falling deeper in love with my child while debating the choice: “Oh wow. That’s pretty much the toughest question anyone has ever asked me. Is it a fresh brownie and who made the apple pie?”

Anna: “A warm fresh brownie with fudge on the top, fudge in the middle. OR, warm apple pie?”

Me: “You’re killing me, kid. Is there ice cream on top?”

Anna: “OF COURSE!”

Me: “I give up. This is the Sophie’s Choice of desserts.”

I guess I need to get us this pie shirt so we match.

Pie, Right?

Last week, Old Navy flubbed up and was selling a selection of collegiate shirts, all with the same blatant grammar error. It hurt my grammar nerdness to see the store make such an error on so many shirts representing institutions of learning. I posted an example of one of the shirts on which Old Navy erred up on We Know Awesome, because, duh:

My outer snark was cackling at Old Navy for making the error, but my inner grammar nerd was weeping with sadness at their lack of editing and education.

And then Old Navy just redeemed themselves in a major way:

There’s a baby in my belly.

It was so friggin cold here this past Sunday (yes, 44° is friggin cold here in Orlando – suckit northerners), that my wee child couldn’t stand being outside.

So she went back to her old home under my shirt.

Last February during the Super Bowl, Denny’s bravely paid millions of dollars to put up the greatest commercial known to man. The commercial I cannot get enough of. The commercial I still sing aloud.

Nanerpus.

I put up a post the night of the Super Bowl touting the awesome that is the Nanerpus, and the search term “Nannerpuss” (sic) is STILL a top 5 keyword for finding my blog. That shows me that 1) I’m awesome at SEO, and 2) there are so many more awesome people out there on the interwebs craving the Nanerpus.

For funsies (and why not on a Saturday night?), I went to the Denny’s website after I had some Twitter conversations about the Nanerpus.

And people. My Christmas shopping list is done.
