There is an ugly side of having good hair.
Yes, I do have good hair. I’m not shy about saying it, because when you have something worth flaunting, you should.
Witness, good hair:

And when I only have a few things to flaunt, I brag the shite out of what I have worthy of flaunting. (see: my fingernails, my girls, my TV-watching skills)
But then there’s an ugly side to having a mane of curly hair.
The ugly side is days like today when I’m working on day 5 of it being unwashed.
I use dry shampoo on my hair when it’s been more than 3 days since its last shampoo, so I know it’s not all-the-way dirty. But having product applied to it daily and then sleeping on it night after night, the hair mass will make for a tangled mess.

I will neither confirm, nor deny, the accusation that there are baby rats living in there.

Unless you want to lose a finger, don’t even try to touch it.
By tomorrow, it will be walking on its own.

Dude! Dude. Can I come cry on your shoulder? I’ve never cut this child’s hair – http://www.flickr.com/photos/neeroc/6475044049/in/photostream. It scares me. I love the curls, and the fact that I can go *days* without brushing it (you really don’t want to brush it. But. It is dreadlocks after one sleep. I cry, she screams…I really should start drinking. How, how do you manage it? What magic products make it all go away?

I hate to tell you this, but I didn’t have curly hair as a kid so I have no idea how to help her hair. I know. It’s weird. It grew out curly after puberty.
I use Pantene which is probably too harsh for her baby hair. Also, I leave in conditioner which helps if I wash it every few days, but if I’m going longer than ~3 days between washings, leave-in conditioner makes it worse.
Good luck… It’s GORGEOUS.

My hair turns into a jumbled mess too. I usually wash it every 3 days because I NEVER remember to buy leave in conditioner…My hair was never curly when I was little but now its really wavy/curly and THICK. If I want it to be manageable I usually have to straighten it or wear it up. I feel your pain

I just use a small amount of regular conditioner to leave in. But if I do, I can’t go more than 3 days w/o washing again. It’s a major mess after that.

My hair is straight but thick … when I go to sleep with it wet, it’s everywhere the next day! My mom has super curly hair like yours though.
I bet your mom has good hair.

She actually likes to straighten it sometimes, and it looks worse straight! It looks nice curly, which is her natural state.
Although mine is not curly, I also have Good Hair that can become snarled. It is super fine and wants to be a dreadloaf.
I have to braid it before bed often, or else the comb-outs take way too long. ;p
We have the same hair (although I’m currently straightening mine). Mine turned thick and curly after puberty too. I look like the singer from Counting Crows when I wake up in the morning. And when I go to the beach I look like Medusa. Good hair.
I found some fabulous new conditioner by Bed Head for curly hair. Keeps the curls fabulous (and soft). It’s expensive at the salon, but I can always find the giant bottle at TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Ross for $14.99ish. I recommend it!
