Annaso

my first attack

was at age 9.

i was in the

4th grade.

i remember nearly

every detail.

the heavy breathing.

my sinking chest.

uncontrollable shaking.

hard to focus.

my parents rushed

me to the er.

my pediatrician

was mad that she

was missing the

cosby show

because of

my attack.

the very thing

that started

my attack.

i got in trouble

but i wanted

to watch the

cosby show

but i was

forbidden.

(i probably kicked

my sister)

shrimp cooking

in the kitchen

(i can smell it now).

the heavy breathing.

i was having an

anxiety attack

because i

was restricted from

a tv show.

at age 9.

countless attacks

since.

most not due

to tv.

and i’m scared

and a bit

humored

to see the anxiety

in my

4yo daughter’s

flapping hands

tearing eyes

heavy breathing

over being

forbidden from tv.

full circle.

like mama

like daughter.

tv lovahs.

Hah! I get anxious with the TV, too. I’ve never had a full blown PA, but I get really really anxious watching some things!

Interesting! My partner can’t watch any drama shows at all, ever…

I live for that kind of show.

Which episode was it?

I have Global Anxiety. Lots of stuff sets me off.
The only time I can remember TV setting me off was when Sorority Girl was home for weekend and made me watch My Super Sweet Sixteen. I was gasping for breath…Shut.This.Off.Right.Now.I.Can’t.Breathe.

Just the thought of having a daughter like that was frightening.
Also frightening….Sorority Girl inherited a little bit of Mom’s anxiety. I remember mine starting in Kindergarten. The Nuns didn’t appreciate it at all!

I have extreme anxiety attacks when I’m really stressed out. Sometimes I lock myself in my closet with diet pepsi for a few hours. I am not even kidding.

My son has been on medication for almost a year because of panic/anxiety disorder. They can be extremely scary.

Dude, at first I thought you said you banned her from a show called “full circle” –damn I am losing it tonight. I was like, “I must be out of touch…”

Anywho, anxiety is a tricky thing; and TV can certainly be soothing…for me, if you banned me from my refrigerator, I’d most certainly have an attack : )

Maybe its time to start limiting her TV, before it really becomes an issue? You can tell me to mind my business. I dont offend easy. =)

Ps…that is one cute kid! Middle finger and all.
