My dad and I are NOT the sentimental types. At. All.
We talk about TV, sports, FOOD, pooping, and farting. He throws in hilariously-embellished stories from his childhood, and he reminisces about my life as a softball star and he as my coach. Sadly, my softball stardom ended 20 years ago. And that’s pretty much it.
This week, my parents are starting a 2-week vacation. Being that I’m the smartest oldest kid they have, I’m responsible for their affairs “if anything happens.”
This morning, my dad sent me this email:
Hi Angie -
There is an “Emergency Data” paper in (location).
Let’s hope you won’t need it.
If you do, be sure to call (lawyer) and sue somebody’s ass off. Then, enjoy your riches.

Sounds kind of promising – I may be coming into some inheritance!
In the nciest possible way, I hope you have to wit a long time. Dealing with lawyer types sucks.

Oh, and then there is what my grandma said to the pastor when he came to visit her in hospice. It was the day I learned what grandma meant when she talked about her “Henrietta.”
There were no hugs, kisses or sentimental poetry flowing from their lips . . .

wow! I’m the oldest of 4, we hasn’t had the talk or um, email quite yet. Although come to think of it, we probably should.
When you get your windfall, we can go hang out in the single-wide trailer near the Sanibel causeway that I’m going to inherit someday.

WHAT!?!?! Seriously…I’m so much more responsible than you! What are they thinking putting you in charge??! Oh, right…they’re thinking that I would take the money and buy a new Louis Vuitton..
