I have two toddler girls, NaNa (3) and Bear (almost 2), who are 18 months apart. They look alike, but because they are a year and a half apart, they are noticeably different heights. That, however, does not stop people from asking if they’re twins. Hello? Twins? NaNa is 6 inches taller than Bear. I digress…
The point of my post is to compare and contrast my two girls. I have no idea how I could have possibly birthed these two girls and have such different children.
NaNa - started talking more than 15 words at almost 3 || Bear - started talking over 50 words at 18 months
NaNa - started watching TV and videos with interest at 18 months || Bear - barely has an interest unless Mickey Mouse is on
NaNa - can spend hours playing by herself or watching videos || Bear - plays at my feet all day long and can’t be alone
NaNa - stays by my side and NEVER wanders off more than 3 steps from me in a store || Bear - I will have to invest in a kiddie leash very soon
NaNa - must be mentally prepared for any and all new experiences || Bear - hasn’t a care in the world what we’re doing or where we’re going
NaNa - will shy away from, and has an aversion towards, any person of the male species || Bear - will have entire conversations with anyone saying hi
NaNa - careful, decisive || Bear - daredevil, climber (I had to take out the short kiddie table when she wasn’t even a year old because she learned how to climb up on the table.)
NaNa - mentally challenging || Bear - physically challenging
What’s a Mama to do?

My babies are 15 months apart…Same thing about 6 inches, I get the twins question all the time…What?

I was one of two girls…they always asked my parents if we were twins..and we’re 2.5 years apart. Yikes!
Your Bear sounds a lot like my Hope.

LOL! At least your girls LOOK alike…my two oldest boys are as different as day and night (one is blonde and the other brunette) and literally every time I go out with them people ask me if they are twins…nope ~ there are 20 blessed months between them. But they *are* the same size…my oldest son is small (think 10th-15th percentile) and my second son is big (75th percentile)…and my third son is an infant, so I also get the raised eyebrows and knowing smiles followed by “I see you are busy.” Talk about an understatement! I look forward to reading your blog :o)

My sister and I are 2 years 9 months apart and are like day and night literally. I am short, she is tall. I am light skinned, she is way more tan. I have curly hair hers is straight. I am loud, she is quiet. I have big boobs, she has little ones. (I had to say that) I love to communicate, she operates on a need to know basis.
My Mama’s life was definitely not boring. We made her laugh a lot and stress a lot.
I am sure you will always be on your toes!!!

How funny, people ask me if my two oldest girls are twins all the time too. Even though the oldest is now 4 and the other is 2, people still ask.

We have sons 3 1/2 years apart and people think they’re twins, too. Imagine the size difference going on there! You’ve gotta wonder at some people.
“Why, yes, we’re conducting an experiment. If we give one son steriod loaded health food, and feed the other nothing but sugary sweetness, what will the difference be?”

Sounds very familiar! I’m the oldest of 3 girls. The middle one and I are 18 months apart and for YEARS we were asked if we were twins! We were noticably different and honestly, I haven’t a clue why people would ask. Now on the other hand, I have twins, they just turned 4 today, boy/girl and for the last couple of years, people ask how old one is, and then the other. They get that deer in headlights look when told: He’s 3. She’s 3.

I have two (out of 7) that are 10 months apart - and I get are they twins all the time. I can understand it now - there is still a size difference, and they look nothing alike, but I would get the are they twins when they were 1 yr old, and 2 months old. So I would have a 25 pound walking 1 yr old, and then a 12 pound, 2 month old sleeping in an infant carseat and then came the dumb question… are they twins. WTH??? LOL.

My kiddos - DD is 5, DS is 4 - are just about the same size and have been for quite some time. DS is ALMOST taller but for sure weighs more by about 8 pounds. We get asked the TWIN question ALL the time! Once we were at a high school football game and were asked 4 different times!
