Worse Than Being Puked On

What could be worse than my husband leaving me?*

Worse than cleaning out peanut butter puke from a car seat?

Worse than being puked on TWO times in one day?**

My poor, poor TV is broken.

Kablam. One minute I’m watching Ellen while folding laundry, then next and boom and a hummmmm. The lights and colors flicker.

No more TV light engine.

(Anna says it just needs a rest. I concur – 14 hours a day may be considered over-use.)

No worries though – we bought the $300 service plan!

Awwww… shit.

The company is out of business. Thanks, George W Bush!

A $4000, 3-1/2-year-old TV is shit unless we can fix it for less than $400. To have a TV repair guy come and LOOK at the friggin thing costs $150. No shit.

I wish I could make $150 for looking at a TV. I’d be a gajillionaire by now.

Before
maybe my nasty-ass toenails scared the TV
Mah TV

After
Wee TV

It’s so teeny tiny.

If anyone is available to trade a TV for my body, I will consider all offers. Or I may trade a kid.*** Whatever gets me a new TV.

*No worries. He’s not leaving me this week. Check back next.

**Claire’s last puke was last night, so I think we’re in the clear.

***Please don’t believe I’d sell my body. I may still consider trading a kid.

Oh sweet fucking Jeebus and Oprah. Just as I was ready to hit ‘Publish’, the 11-year-old WeeTV lost its picture. Yes, people. LOST. ITS. PICTURE.

I beat it to death and threatened it, so it came back to life. It better not do that again. Or it’s the trash for the WeeTV, too.

@Hilly, for serious, you’re one of the first people I thought of when I realized the death – it may hit me for reals tomorrow, but for now, I’m dealing.

if there were golf clubs in the house…i would have used them. Freakin Mo Fo T.V.!! sadly, at our house i could just go watch in another room (yes, we have 4 mondo sets!) i feel your pain…even though i have other options, i’m too lazy to move to another room. i called hubby to rant when the TiVo went out…can’t imagine what would happen if the whole damn t.v. busted!

@Ashley, dood – we have another mondo TV, but it weighs 200+ pounds – we’ll have our neighbor help Patrick move it tomorrow. mama can’t live with a 27 incher with my HD DVR. i’m still crying over the $4000 we spent on something that’s junk now.

The company going out of business is one of the biggest reasons that it’s generally not worth buying those extended warranties — and it’s true even when the economy is fine, because in most states they have no obligation to keep any amount of funds available for paying claims.

Lightning strike just spiked our power off for a second and two of my UPSes failed to work. I have the worst luck with UPSes. Everything seems to have come back OK, thankfully. Hmm… maybe I should blog about my dang UPSes….

Oh, and major suckage on losing TV. Is it possible it’s just the bulb?

Maybe someone is buying their warranties—–check where you bought the TV, they SHOULD be able to help you with a warranty -= after all you bought it from them in good faith…..they should be able to help you. I’d make a scene and demand them to come up with a solution. THEY SOLD YOU THE WARRANTY!

Wait – George Bush owned Circuit City?!?!

Oh holy hell – how did I not know?!?

@Colleen – Mommy Always Wins, No – George Bush didn’t own Circuit city. Best Buy and Walmart just out-competed them – and Carl Icahn never bought them, like he said he would. Which is why he’s a billionaire and I’m not. Because he know when to duck. Circuit City was a publicly traded company – owned by the share holders.

A lot of times the extended warranty service plans are actually owned by someone separate and may be completely covered. If not, you should call your credit card and charge back the entire purchase and then buy a new one.
